ARI (Added Reality Interface)

Added by Birdie94jbThe ARI equipment consists of a pair of glasses, acting as a visual enhancement visor, where it is able to detect and record information from the environment. Also included is a single right-handed glove that, when worn, allows the user to physically interact with evidence, that can in moments stream instant information about the evidence the glove touches, such as discovering blood type, shoe-make and identifying scents in the air. ARI is able to do this, through small sensors located on the finger shafts, tips and the palm of the glove. It also seems that all gathered information is installed directly into ARI's internal memory which can be reviewed at any place or time. ARI has instant access to the FBI database, evident when Norman is scanning a dead cat at one of the crime scenes, stating "a dead cat, the FBI doesn't keep records of dead cats..."
There are many uses for it as seen in demos, videos, and screenshots, though its primary use is for searching and discovering evidence during Norman's crime scene missions. Other uses, outside of crime scenes, involve searching through case files, testing fingerprints and other evidence, and can even be used for recreational purposes passing time by playing virtual reality games. Jayden can play a holographic version of handball & several other games, and can allow him to see a computer simulation of environments that he can examine his evidence in.
There is suggestions to believe that Norman Jayden is addicted to the ARI, this is commonly seen in everyday life (TV, Video Games), evidence of this is noticing Norman Jayden's score being 20,000+ when playing the game "Ball" with his ARI and every time he hits the wall, the points increase by one; suggesting that it is being abused by the length of time it is being used. ARI is a prototype and is undocumented to cause damage, however proof of damage is seen on Jay
Added by Milyulya LaAlberA subtle message is implemented into the surrounding that is used when using the ARI for the final time; you realise that you are not using the background that you chose beforehand. At the beginning of the last session of the ARI, the music played is merely cautious and the surrounding seems calming, after the eye begins to bleed; you notice leaves are picked up in the wind and the music becomes louder and faster paced, upon the second eye bleeding the wind has caused a storm as the wind gusts become strong and thunder begins to show via flashes of light. The music becomes deadly and it begins to rain which soon follows to Norman Jaydens death from prolonged use of the ARI.
Twice while using ARI, the virtual butler within the ARI appears that reminds Norman not to over indulge in "you-know-what,". At first visit, it is thought to believe that he is talking about the triptocaine that Norman Jayden is supposedly addicted to, this is dismissed later on in the after the butler appears for the second time w

In the epilogue where Norman Jayden sees tanks, he hallucinates immediately after using the ARI, this shows that he he is begining to suffer the side effects of extensive use of the ARI, perhaps further use of this may suggest that Norman Jayden would believe he is visually stuck in the false reality of the ARI even though he is in the real world till he dies. It is not known if Norman stops using ARI after this point.
In the epilogue in which Norman Jayden overdoses and dies, it's shown that even though he's seizing on the floor of his bedroom, dying from triptocaine overdose as he attempts to prevent the ARI side-effects and to forget about Shaun's death and failing to capture The Origami Killer, his mind is convinced he's on ARI's mountains, having a conversation with himself. His ARI-self tells him, sadly, that all the triptocaine affected him more seriously than he thinks; and ironically dies after being told.
In the epilogue where Norman Jayden resigns his department director says that he can keep the ARI prototype as a more advanced model will be issued to FBI agents. He stares at the glasses and then discards them stating "I won't need them where I'm going... the real world." He then sets them next to his gun and ID.
