Fahrenheit (known as Indigo Prophecy in North America) is a video game developed by Quantic Dream in 2005. It was Quantic Dream's previous game before Heavy Rain, and bears a resemblance to it in terms of gameplay and style. Originally released for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, it became available for download for the Xbox 360 in December 2007. It was rereleased as Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered for Windows, Android, iOS, Linux, and macOS in January 2015 and for the PlayStation 4 in August 2016, and a PS4 exclusive called Fahrenheit: 15th Anniversary Edition that included a physical edition of the game in a specially created case and sleeve, a sticker set, a high-quality printed artbook, and a thank you letter from the development team was released in January 2021.

The plot of Fahrenheit revolves around Lucas Kane, who becomes possessed and murders a man in the restroom of a diner, and his pursuit by police detectives Carla Valenti and Tyler Miles. They gradually learn about the circumstances surrounding the murder and the Indigo Child, a young girl whose secret grants power that multiple organizations want for themselves.

Some voice and model actors appear in both Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain, including David Gasman, Barbara Scaff, Christian Erickson, and others.

Trivia[]

  • Though it is unconfirmed, players have speculated that Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain are set in the same universe. Some also speculate that Beyond: Two Souls is included in this shared universe.
    • The removed supernatural elements of Heavy Rain are very similar to the ones present in Fahrenheit: a protagonist (Lucas Kane and Ethan Mars) develops a psychic connection to the main antagonist (the Oracle and the Origami Killer) that causes them to see their memories and actions.
    • The condominium Ethan, Shaun and potentially Madison move into in two of the endings is similar, but not identical to, Lucas Kane's apartment. While the general appearance and layout of the condo is similar, some of the distinguishing features of Lucas' apartment (such as the glass door leading to an outside balcony) are absent. Heavy Rain is set in a city modeled after Philadelphia, whereas Fahrenheit is set in New York; however, the location of Ethan's condo is unknown, as the rainy weather the City experiences for most of the game is absent from both of the endings the condo appears in. It is also unclear how much time has passed between the events of the game and the endings, making it plausible that Ethan and Shaun (and possibly Madison) left the City and that the condo is a remodeled version of Lucas' apartment in New York.
    • In "A New Life," Ethan remarks that a "friend of a friend" let him get the condo. This may be referring to Lucas.
