"Hold My Hand" is the forty-ninth chapter in Heavy Rain.

OverviewEdit

In this chapter, the end of John Sheppard's story is revealed.

DescriptionEdit

This chapter is a flashback continuing from "Twins." John Sheppard is still stuck in the pipe filled with fast-running rainwater while his unnamed brother holds his hand. John's brother leaves John to get help. He runs home to their abusive father, who has continued drinking after chasing the boys off for the day. The boy desperately tries to get his father to come save John, and even resorts to trying to physically pull his father along. The drunk shoves the boy away, and he returns to John, dismayed and heartbroken. John is still trapped in the pipe; the boy pleads with John to hang on and not die. John can only mutter "Don't forget about me, Scottie." Scott Sheppard helplessly watches his twin brother drown while holding his hand.

TriviaEdit

  • This chapter has a unique loading screen - it shows Scott Shelby as a child instead of an adult. He has a bandage over his left eye, indicating that he had obviously hurt himself while playing on the construction site or alternatively, his father being abusive to him. A small bandage can also be seen as Scott holds John's hand and bows his head after the boy drowns.
  • This chapter is memorable for revealing the identity of the Origami Killer, at last.
  • This is the main reason Scott did his killings as the Origami Killer. He sends trials to a father capable of saving his son (seeing even if they are willing to) and drowns his victims in rainwater.
